A very 101 weekend

IMG00061Despite the fact that NY has appropriated Seattle’s weather for the last month, this was a great weekend. Friday, the Weissmans and I went to Black Betty – one of our favorite places in Brooklyn that is unfortunately closing down due to increased rent. They have really good Mediterranean food, although I get the same thing every time (lamb lamajoun). I also bought a bike, which I will be posting about shortly.

Saturday, after being fairly lazy (minus a gym trip), we went to see the Alvin Ailey company perform – this was very cool and yet another item on the 101.

Yesterday, I went with my dad, stepmom and two brothers on a 6 mile bike ride to eat breakfast on the beach. Austin and Brandon had a great time launching themselves from the swings face-first into the sand, which was entertaining for me.

We then headed up to the club in Orange for some tennis and golf.

I was surprisingly hooked – I played in high school but haven’t stepped on a course since 2001, if not earlier. After a quick lesson from my dad I was hitting a 7 iron over 150 yards on the driving range. Unfortunately, the driving range is not the same as the golf course. Either way it was a great time and good practice for eventually doing a full 18.

I brought my clubs to CT today to have around for next time. I tried putting on my old golf glove from high school – the result was like the OJ trial. Time for some new equipment.

Overall, it was a great weekend and hopefully a good indicator of what this summer will be like (minus the weather).
